Papa John’s Garlic Sauce

This is under dinner meals because when you don’t feel like cooking dinner, order some pizza!  Papa John’s used to be Feingold approved but it went missing from the guide a couple years ago.  I'm not sure why but many members still get it and have not had any problems.  Could be they stopped filling out forms.

If you order it without sauce, it is stage 1.  My son likes to order his with extra cheese, no sauce.  Then it’s kind of like garlic bread with cheese.  I request pizza sauce instead of garlic sauce for dipping because the garlic sauce has artificials, but here are a couple homemade copycat recipes.

¼ cup of butter

½ TB garlic powder

¼ tsp salt (I use sea salt)

Melt butter.  Add garlic powder and salt and stir to combine.

There is another recipe that calls for ½ cup of butter and ¼ tsp of garlic powder.  Quite a bit less garlic powder. I guess the moral of the story is, melt some butter, add some garlic powder.  If you want more garlic, add some more, and add salt to taste.

For dairy free, we use Earth Balance Soy Free butter.  If you are GFCF, we use the Namaste Pizza Crust Mix to make pizza.  I make homemade pizza sauce, then top with fresh garlic, oregano, basil, and Daiya mozzarella cheese.

Feingold Stage 1
